Acceptance of Terms

By downloading or using Explainly (“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App.

Description of Service

Explainly is an AI-powered homework explanation app that helps students understand homework problems through step-by-step explanations. The App uses artificial intelligence to analyze images of homework problems and generate educational explanations.

Use of the App

Permitted Use

Use the App for personal, non-commercial educational purposes
Scan homework problems, textbook questions, and educational materials
Save and review explanations for study purposes

Prohibited Use

You agree not to:

Use the App to cheat on exams or assessments where such assistance is prohibited
Attempt to reverse engineer, modify, or distribute the App
Use the App for any unlawful purpose
Attempt to bypass usage limits or subscription restrictions
Upload images containing inappropriate, harmful, or illegal content

Subscriptions and Payments

Free Tier

The free tier includes 5 explanations per day. Usage limits reset daily.

Explainly Pro

Pro subscriptions are billed monthly ($6.99/month) or annually ($44.99/year) through Google Play. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.

Refunds

Refund requests are handled in accordance with Google Play’s refund policy. Contact support@explainly.app for assistance.

Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Google Play account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

AI-Generated Content

Explainly uses artificial intelligence to generate explanations. While we strive for accuracy:

AI-generated explanations may contain errors
Explainly is a learning aid, not a substitute for qualified educational instruction
Always verify important information with a qualified teacher or textbook
We are not responsible for academic outcomes based on use of the App

Intellectual Property

The Explainly app, its design, and branding are owned by Britten Labs
You retain ownership of any images you upload
AI-generated explanations are provided for your personal educational use only
You may not reproduce or distribute explanations for commercial purposes

Privacy

Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that:

The App will be available at all times
Explanations will be accurate or complete
The App will meet your specific educational needs

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Britten Labs shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service at any time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. The “Last updated” date at the top of this document will reflect any changes.
